| Event Details: The International Children’s Day of Broadcasting (ICDB)– a joint initiative between UNICEF and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – aims to make children part of the programming process. Every December, broadcasters in more than 100 countries celebrate the day in unique ways, as children go on the air as reporters, presenters and producers. Tapes of UNICEF’s public service announcements and programming examples will be available to broadcasters. |

| In the effort to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and encourage prevention, it is vital to engage the voices of youth and give them a platform. In 2006, the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting focuses attentions on these efforts with the theme UNITE FOR CHILDREN. UNITE AGAINST AIDS. |
| |
| This year, UNICEF is calling on broadcasters worldwide to offer children a voice in their programmes and to highlight what people – young and old – are doing to change the course of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. |
